Barnet Giving is a local charity that was set up to specifically help local causes in the Borough of Barnet. With so many requests for support it can be really difficult to select a charity to help, which is where Barnet Giving stands out. We are completely inclusive and best of all, the monies raised in Barnet stay in Barnet.
Barnet Giving aims to bring residents and local businesses together to fundraise and raise vital funds for local causes.
Projects Barnet Giving has helped so far:
Whetstone Stray Allotments received £2500 from Barnet Giving in 2017 to develop and improve accessibility to a community allotment project for those with disabilities or the less advantaged – here’s what they had to say nearly 1 year into the project.
“The funding received from Barnet Giving has had a huge impact on the overall look and feel, turning it into more of a community garden. We’ve been able to build a wooden pathway through the centre which makes it much more accessible and we’ve had a lot of compliments since this has been added. We have also begun to build raised growing beds which are also easier for our volunteers to use. And the addition of a pizza oven and smoothie maker allows us to use the produce grown to create fresh food for everyone to enjoy.”
We also awarded the Granville Residents Association with £4235 to fund a weekly well-being coffee morning – The Active Elderly Coffee Club – for elderly residents, held at Childs Hill Library – here’s what they had to say.
“The coffee morning is a well-attended weekly event run by local residents and it’s had a massive impact on our elderly resident’s lives. It is encouraging people to interact in a social environment and a place to discuss their issues and concerns.”
Based on the belief that we can all give something – time, skills and money – Barnet Giving aims to channel those resources into joint action that addresses local needs and challenges. By supporting the most vulnerable people in our society the whole community benefits, making Barnet a better place for you and your family.
Acting on a deep knowledge of our community’s key issues, we aim to help deliver people-friendly support, self-help and social action.
We are part of a London-wide movement breaking new ground on how communities can solve issues like poverty, exclusion, loneliness, mental health and unemployment from the grassroots.

Are you a resident who wants to make a difference in your local community? There are so many ways that you could help, from cake sales, coffee mornings, sky dives or even an organised dinner. Whatever your idea, get in touch and we will do everything we can to support you.
Are you a local business that has been looking to make a local impact with your Corporate Social Responsibility? We can work with you to develop a charity partnership that has a real and definite impact on the local community.
Money is important and even a small amount can make a huge difference, but it’s not all about money. Perhaps your business can help us with a venue so we can host an event? Or can mentor young people in how to run a successful business?
