East Finchley’s annual Community Festival takes place on Sunday 24 June, from 12-6pm, in Cherry Tree Wood, opposite East Finchley tube station. It’s a free event, with live music and performance taking place all afternoon on two stages. Fixation Theatre, Airborne Circus and Fortitude Dance Company will be amongst the performers entertaining crowds on the Community Stage, whilst the main stage will host wall to wall music.
If you haven’t tired yourself out dancing, there’ll even be free tennis coaching sessions taking place in the courts.
This year Chickenshed Theatre will be bringing Tales from the Shed to our magical storytelling tent, alongside story-tellers Kate Brown, Kay Dunn and Pippa Reid. For the really little ones, there’ll be free multi-sensory fun sessions from Hartbeeps.
Children can also enjoy traditional Punch and Judy, a climbing wall, giant inflatable slides and a chance to meet some majestic birds of prey, courtesy Jambs Owls. Later in the day, a trio of magicians, including multi-award-winning Girio, will make an appearance – or should that be a disappearance?
Food stalls cater for every taste, with delicious fayre from around the globe, plus of course ice cream, cakes, donuts, coffee and a licensed bar.
With over 80 stalls to browse, you’ll find locally produced artisan crafts and delicacies, alongside representatives from just about every local business and community organisation from the area.
As always, it promises to be a great day out for the whole family.
