At The Heart of St. Pancras

St Pancras Champagne bar

At the Heart of St. Pancras by Bernardo Calero Plasencia

I decided to go to one of the most iconic buildings in London. Opened originally on 1868 this year will toast its 150th anniversary. After an incredible restoration completed in 2007 the station returned to its former glory of Victorian gothic architecture. Yes, we are in St Pancras International.

The venue boasts the longest champagne bar in Europe measuring 98 metres so let me show you around the St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar by Searcys.

The bar first opened in 2007. The man in charge of the design was Martin Brudnizki (Also known for designing places like The Ivy or Scott’s to name a few).

The focal point is a square minimalistic shaped Bar. At each side of the bar is a long corridor which gives the place a sense of infinity.

As I go in, the waitress is ready to serve you. As I am in a champagne Bar, I naturally asked for champagne. The waitress recommends the house one, which is made in France for Searcys.

As I enjoyed my first sip of the drink and the music, I relaxed into my chair and I started enjoying the view around me.

The first thing you notice is the bar is adjacent to the Eurostar platform separated by glass which makes an amazing decoration feature; but it’s when you look up that you see the magnitude and grandiosity of the place.

The experience is unique: You are having a drink in the middle of a huge train station. The fusion between the bar and the station is perfect.

The place offers a very good drinks and food menu. All the food products are seasonal and produced in UK and the great thing is that the bar’s waiting times are minimal.

As I am leaving the place, I could see on the other side of the bar a man enjoying the bubbles from every sip that seems to last an eternity and while waiting for his train to Paris, he suddenly decides that The City of Lights will need to wait and orders another drink.

My recommendation is go there and experience this magnificent place that has been created for you in the best city in the world.
