There will be plenty for the younger visitors to enjoy, both as participants and spectators. For the first time ever the Fair is presenting the Sheep Show, a humorous educational live stage show about sheep and wool. The kids tent will be filled with a welter of creative activities and there will also be Punch and Judy, rides, including a train, circus skills workshops organised by The So & So Circus from Jacksons Lane, a bungee fly and lots more.
The stage in Pond Square will reverberate to the carnival sounds of The Hornsey School for Girls Steel Band. Local choirs, dancers and musicians will perform as well as the cast of ‘Avenue Q’ from Upstairs at the Gatehouse.
Over 120 charities, societies, Highgate shops and small businesses will have stalls, some promoting their activities and others selling a wide variety of goods – handmade jewellery, sumptuous silk scarves, giant beanbags, beautiful home textiles, clothes, crafts and lots of plants. No one need go hungry as there will be stalls serving an international selection of delicious foods. Tea and homemade cakes will available at the United Reformed Church and in the forecourt of St. Michael’s church.

This year, the organisers are delighted to welcome The Highgate Hospital as a first-time sponsor of the Fair. As always, The Fair is grateful for the generous and consistent support given by regular sponsors – Benham & Reeves, Cass Art, Day Morris, the Ham & High, Highgate Society and Retail Human Resources. Thanks also to Gilmartin Ley and the Highgate Literary & Scientific Institution for their support. Without these strong partnerships with local businesses, institutions and residents there would be no Fair.
Veronica Day, Chair of the Fair committee, says, “The Fair in the Square is a unique event – a chance for everyone to mingle, meet old and new friends and have fun in the heart of our lovely village. We look forward to seeing you on June 15th”.
