Inexperience is no barrier to start a career in care!

People should not be deterred from starting a career in the care profession if they do not have experience in the sector, says the founder of a Winchmore Hill-based care firm.

“Some of the staff at Home Care Preferred, a care agency based in Station Road, have come from a variety of other sectors, and have become excellent carers. Practical skills such as manual handling, food safety and first aid are easily taught, however innate kindness, empathy and a passion for making a difference are natural qualities that are essential when we are recruiting,” comments Managing Director Ken Waterhouse.

“Some of our best team members have come to Home Care Preferred with no experience, but as a result of first class training and on-going support they have proved to be highly valued members of the Home Care Preferred workforce,” Ken explained.

“Having a real variety of team members with a wide range of ages as well as different cultural backgrounds is essential to us in the care sector as we cater for people from different backgrounds and with specific preferences.”

Home Care Preferred ’s working practices reflects the company’s aim to attract not only experienced staff but people who are eager to develop a career in the sector.

Staff are offered flexible working patterns and the opportunity to be part of an award-winning company that really cares about their clients and their team.

There are good career development opportunities with Home Care Preferred too.  The company has three new branches opening during the early part of 2018 following the launch of their franchise business last year.

“We are always looking for good people to join our team and with Support Assistants aged between 20 & 66 years old, age is no barrier” explained Home Care Preferred’ recruitment executive, Monica Murphy.

“Job opportunities range from 16 hours a week through to full time. In addition to Support Assistants we are also seeking Senior Carers and Trainee Care Managers. I am always happy to have an informal chat with people before they make a formal application”
