The Vintage Appeal of Cha Cha Cha

vintage shop

For a shop that sells retro and vintage items, Cha Cha Cha is well on the way to achieving this vintage status itself. It celebrated a decade in business in May 2014 and has happily settled into its surroundings in Avenue Mews, a quirky and vibrant back street in Muswell Hill, London. The location certainly fits the shop itself, since the vibrant surroundings continue once you walk through the door.

Aside from offering the warmest of welcomes, Cha Cha Cha is home to an eclectic mix of goods, furniture and clothing. The shop is run by local Muswell Hill resident Ruth Syratt and South African born Megan Stevenson, and they each take on the responsibility for a specific area of vintage goods. Megan has an eye for stunning retro furniture and homeware items, using the mid to late 20th century as her time palette. Meanwhile Ruth makes sure Cha Cha Cha always has a superb collection of clothing and accessories too.

Ruth and Megan don’t merely rely on a single source to get their stock from either. They buy from sellers who visit the shop as well as exploring car boot sales, auctions and markets across the country. Their love of everything vintage and retro shines through every single item you’ll find in their shop, both in the premises in Muswell Hill and in their online shop at http://www.cha-cha-cha.co.uk/.

Whenever you visit you will undoubtedly feel as if you have gone back in time, but the time period you find yourself in will depend on which direction you are looking in. If you are searching for that elusive item from anywhere between the 1920s and the 1980s, you may find it in their shop. Although the range of handpicked items there is constantly changing, it merely provides more reasons to go along as often as you can.  It’s good simply to soak up the atmosphere and pick up that elusive piece you need to complete an outfit or help finish the décor in your home.

This is the type of shop you should seek out whenever you’re in the area; the engaging and thrilling mix of items in their shop that makes it so worth a visit. It is easy to step through the doors in Avenue Mews and to lose an hour or two browsing, reminiscing and of course buying. It seems almost impossible to leave without treating yourself to one or two engaging items from a nearly forgotten past that will make the ideal outfit or home decoration complete.

Put simply, you never quite know what to expect when you step through the doors of Cha Cha Cha. The only constants are Ruth and Megan’s warm welcome and a superb chance to go back in time.
