We’d love the clothes you don’t

textile and clothes collectionsTRAID is a London based charity working to transform unwanted clothes into funds to fight human exploitation and environmental damage.  We have launched a scheme offering thousands of local households free collections of your unwanted clothes and shoes.  It’s a free, easy and convenient way of donating directly to charity, direct from your door.

Collections take place at evening time slots when more people are at home, and our driver collects in TRAID’s clearly branded van. Scheduling a pick up is great for busy people and families, and a boon for anyone who finds it difficult to carry their donations to TRAID’s charity shops or textile banks.

TRAID’s Chief Executive Maria Chenoweth-Casey said, “Your unwanted clothes are the charitable lifeblood of the organisation and in return for your hugely valued donations, TRAID is delighted to offer the local community free and friendly collections which directly benefit charity.”

Your donations will be taken to TRAID’s warehouse in Wembley where they are hand sorted for resale in our 11 charity shops in London, including one of our busiest shops based locally in Wood Green.  It’s a method of fundraising with powerful environmental and social benefits.  In the UK, textile reuse shrinks waste, our carbon footprint and consumption.  In the developing world, it enables us to fund projects fighting human exploitation and environmental damage across the textile supply chain in some of the world’s poorest communities.

In the last three years alone, TRAID funding has improved the working conditions of over 470,000 textile workers, saved children from bonded labour, opened up new markets to thousands of garment homeworkers and supported cotton farmers in West and East Africa to farm without using pesticides.  All this from your unwanted clothes.

The more you donate, the more funds we can raise to support international development projects worldwide, while reducing textile waste across the borough.

Book a collection online www.traid.org.uk/collections, by email [email protected] or by phone 020 8733 2580 (Option 1).  If you have any questions about the collection scheme or TRAID, please visit www.traid.org.uk or contact us on 020 8733 2580.
