David Foster Wallace’s masterpiece, Infinite Jest. Been reading it for about a year; it’s a goddamn monster.
How did you get into writing?
For the money and free beer. I may have been misled.
Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?
@Bad_gary – a life in comical self-destruct mode.
@Biggreenbooks – great books, appalling jokes.
@the3j35t3r – cyber warrior.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My wife, my kids and my hedge fund manager.
Which book do you wish you had written?
I’d certainly enjoy the kudos for having banged out The Odyssey or something similar. Jim Dodge’s Stone Junction would have been fun to write, it’s just full of such wonderful, crazy-ass characters. But if I’d written something half as good as even DFW’s shopping list I’d be happy.
Does God exist?
We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?
Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?
Gove, Johnson, Littlejohn – although the opportunity for a triple cock-punch would make up for it to some degree.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A journalist on the Sussex Express – I fear that ship may have sailed.
What song will you have played at your funeral?
How would I ever know that?
What book are you promoting at the moment?
The Geek Manifesto, a locally set urban techno thriller about love, friendship and computer hackers.
How can we find out more about you?
or just stop me in the street and ask.
