Q&A with Marcella Detroit

Marcella Detroit

What are you listening to right now?

Sly and the Family Stone Anthology

How did you get into music?

It started attracting me when I was a child. I was always singing in school choirs and choruses, then duets and quintets. I started playing violin at age 8, then onto guitar, piano, accordion, ukulele, and harmonica. I made a conscious decision at age 18 that I would dedicate my life to music and focused on that.

Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?

No one in particular!!! lots of different people.

What have you been reading lately?

I’m in the middle of reading a great book called “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle

Who is the most influential person in your life?

Myself and my husband. We are best of friends.

Which song do you wish you had written?

A Day in the Life by the Beatles, if I had to pick one.

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Sparkling water with a lime twist, I don’t need to have alcohol to have a good time!

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Donald Trump!! Although I’d certainly give him a piece of my mind!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was around 10 I was very interested in working with the Peace Corps. After that, believe it or not, I thought it would be fun to be a postal carrier, just walking around all day delivering mail and getting exercise in the process, lol. I also was intrigued by Fashion and spent hours drawing designs. Then, music changed my life forever.

If you could change on thing about London, what would it be?

The traffic, it’s so busy!! But I LOVE everything else about it.

What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?

I have a new album out called Gray Matterz. You can find info and order a signed physical copy of it at www.graymatterz.info. The album is also available worldwide on iTunes and all digital download sites and @amazon on demand.   I have a new single being released from the album this Friday, March 18th. The song is called “Drag Queen” and the single is almost a “mini” album and includes 4 remixes of the song as well as the album version, plus another song from the album called “What’s the Time in Tokyo”. It will be available worldwide, digitally only, on all digital download sites including iTunes.

How can we find out more about you?
