CEOS has invited our first Guest artist, Lisa Hammond, to join us for the ninth Open Studios weekend. Lisa is a potter and has exhibited extensively here and abroad particularly in Japan. In recent years she has developed a series of “Soda Shino” work, inspired by Mino pots of Japan. Her work is in the Victoria and Albert and Fitzwilliam museums and she is currently in high demand for workshops both here and abroad.
Six new artists are exhibiting with CEOS this year, four painters, a sculptor and a digital artist. Together with 18 other professional fine artists they will open their studio doors to the public and put on exhibitions of their work in Crouch End shops and premises, all within walking distance of the Clocktower. This has proved to be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to see, enjoy and buy work from local artists.
We believe that CEOS contributes greatly to the atmosphere of creativity, independent thought and culture in the community that defines Crouch End . This year we are very excited to be collaborating with the local branch of Action for Kids www.actionforkids.org. Our artists worked with the students, running art workshops in Highgate Wood School and will exhibit the resulting work alongside the CEOS artists in our group show at the Original Gallery in Hornsey Library.
Action for Kids will also be showing their work at Ability House,15a Tottenham Lane, N8 9DJ during Open Studio Weekend.
