On the 24th May make sure you get down to The Boogaloo pub in Highgate between 2-6:30pm for more vintage and second hand shopping than you can shake a stick at!
You can fill your tummies with cake whilst filling your wardrobe with wonderfully cheap clothes ready for summer! Or if your wardrobe is already stocked to the brim then you can kick back and listen to some acoustic live music from a range of great musicians from all over the country.
With donations from Blitz Vintage, Muswell Hill’s very own Cha Cha Cha Vintage and Can’t Buy Me Love, Glass Onion Vintage, Uncommon Nonsense and many more there’s going to be plenty of garments to get your hands on!
Other shops include the likes of Crouch End’s Indie Prints, a private jewellery maker who can also take orders on the day, records and plenty of lovely cake, donated from companies and friends.
Now imagine you can spend your money safe in the knowledge that it’s for a great cause! All money made from this event is going towards a charity trek I’m doing in Peru to raise awareness and funds for the UK’s leading drugs and alcohol addiction charity, Addaction.
Addaction provides fantastic support to those suffering with addiction and to those who are supporting family and friends who are. There is so much this wonderful charity does to help and all we need to do is get the word out! And this is what Garms-on-the-Go is all about!
Garms-on-the-Go is based on the idea of a pop up charity shop. Donations given from all over the country from businesses and people alike in order to give you guys great clothes for less, whilst raising money! There’s going to be a summer fete vibe with live music, food and The Boogaloo, which has been newly refurbished, has a beautiful beer garden to relax in, so lets hope for sunshine!
So why am I doing all this?
My story: My name is Lotti, I’m 23 years old and I live in Muswell Hill. 6 years ago my dad died of addiction related illness and all these events and all this money is being raised in memory of him. He was such a creative and wonderful soul who got great pleasure from all things fashion, art and music; as do I too. Therefore I wanted to use my inherited love for the arts to host a really great event that I know he would have loved. I want to raise awareness and funds to help Addaction help the thousands of people affected by these terrible illnesses each year and what better way to do it than with a smile on my face and a cake in hand! Losing a loved one is never easy especially when you know it could have been prevented.
It would be so wonderful to see the community turn out to help such a great charity and to help me get up those Peruvian hills! And I think you’ll kick yourself when you hear your friends talk about the cheap and cheerful clothes and cake that you missed out on!
I’m still accepting donations of all sorts and am always happy to collect straight from your door, any support is wonderful and much appreciated and I look forward to see you all there!
