Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice needs you to ‘help make precious moments’

Noah's Ark

With the festive season just around the corner, our thoughts turn to spending time with loved ones and making precious moments count. But for families with a child who is seriously unwell, things like theatre trips, parties or ice skating can feel just too difficult. Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice’s family activities are all about making these festive treats possible—and they mean the world to families taking part.

We’ve got such lovely family memories from the Noah’s Ark activity days” says Liz, whose nine-year-old daughter Jess has been supported by Noah’s Ark for the past five years. “She went to last year’s Christmas Panto and absolutely loved it.” Jess is non-verbal and communicates by eye gaze technology. She used it to introduce herself around the room, with a “Hi, I’m Jess”.

Jess has Rett syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects 1 in 12,000 girls a year. The condition results in severe disability. In Jess’s case this means very limited movement; she’s a wheelchair user and needs help with the moves that she makes.

Ask Jess for her thoughts about Noah’s Ark and, speaking through her computer, they couldn’t be clearer: “feel love, feel love, feel love, feel love”.

Noah’s Ark is your local children’s hospice, supporting babies, children, and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Our mission is to provide care and support for these seriously unwell children, enabling them to live life as fully as possible and to achieve their aspirations.

Every child receives a bespoke package of Hospice-at-Home support, which may include specialist care and therapies, as well as access to our family activities programme. Our work is magnified by our trained volunteers who give families support at home, helping them to spend more time together.

This year it is costing £2.4 million to keep Noah’s Ark afloat, and over 90% of this funding comes from our community.

There are many ways you can fundraise for us but the easiest is via ‘London’s crying out for a New Children’s Hospice’ Text NACH10 £10 to 70070 to donate £10. Help us build The Ark.
