Are you looking for a local volunteering opportunity? If so please consider supporting the Compassionate Neighbours Project. Knowing that health outcomes are much poorer for people who are lonely, Compassionate Neighbours in North London is a project run by North London Hospice that aims to help people with a life-limiting illness to be more connected to the community around them.
We are asking people to get more involved in supporting socially isolated people within their local community. This may be by offering companionship, enabling them to remain connected to the community around them and enjoy the activities that they have enjoyed in the past, making contact with new people who are referred to the project, delivering training and support to new volunteers, hosting social events, the only limitation is your imagination!
Who are we looking for?
All people with all skills are welcome, as a Compassionate Neighbour in North London you will decide what, when and how you help the community around you. The first step is to sign up to one of our Compassionate Neighbours training sessions. The next dates are:
Wednesday 27 & Thursday 28 February, Wood Green Library
Saturday 9 & Saturday 16 March, North London Hospice, Finchley
Monday 8 & Monday 15 April, North London Hospice, Winchmore Hill
Sunday 12 & Sunday 19 May, North London Hospice, Finchley
Volunteers must be over the age of 18.
We will provide the training and ongoing support. Our training is informal, fun and thought-provoking. You will explore how you can use your compassion to help others and we will help you to have the confidence to support people in your community. Training and support is provided free of charge and includes refreshments and lunch.
