Wallpaper Style

Anne Springall

The recent resurgence of wallpaper appears to be here to stay.  There is a plethora of wallpapers available, making it an easy way to make a bold statement in any room.

Wallpaper can literally be ‘art’ on the wall or a subtle backdrop and with so much choice it can be a fascinating start to a design scheme for any space in your home. Starting a re-decoration project can be an exciting but often challenging experience and knowing where to begin can be the hardest part. Finding a wallpaper you love can easily lead you by the hand to get off to a good start.

In 2018 you can see wallpapers with bold 60’s inspired prints, graphic and industrial style textures, stripes in all directions and sizes, painterly landscapes and detailed studies of natural elements in repeat. We can also increasingly see very large scale, artist inspired whole wall mural papers if you have a wall that’s ‘begging’ you to make a statement.

One trend in wallpaper that has carried across from 2017 is the bold rich botanical print. There are many physical and psychological benefits to surrounding yourself with greenery or even just the colour green in your home. The soothing qualities of nature and the environment are available in a printed format that you can paste to your wall!
