Film Review: Gloria Bell – 3.5 stars

Film Review

Julianne Moore is acting royalty so any movie featuring her as the lead is worth your time and attention. Sebastián Lelio directs and co-scripts this engaging story about a middle-aged woman who is looking at the next phase of her life. Her kids have grown up and she has been divorced for some time, so now Gloria spends her nights dancing to disco and looking to meet new people. One of them is Arnold (John Turturro), a kind soul but someone who comes with plenty of baggage. Can Gloria find that special someone or is she destined be alone? The film starts off really brightly but the finale doesn’t quite pack the punch it needed to. That said, Moore is sensational here and worth your time alone.
