Drop-in group for children with additional needs

The Challenge Group is part of WAVE (We’re All Valued Equally), a movement that is looking to help change the way in which people view learning disability, one community at a time. All of the groups and events that we run encourage inclusion and aim to recognise the value of, and contribution individuals with a learning disability make when actively involved in our communities. Challenge, is a playgroup and a support group for families with a baby or child with any additional needs.

We offer a very welcoming and relaxed space for children to play with great toys and parents can come and relax and chat with one another in a relaxed space. We offer free massage, tea, coffee and home-made cakes. Parents are welcome without their child if their child is of school age. We meet every Friday at 10am in St James’ Church during the term time. Here are some quotes from the parents who attend the group: “The Challenge group has been a life-line for me”; “You can come here and relax and you don’t feel anyone judges you or your child”; “Before the group I hadn’t left my house for weeks after my baby was born and felt really lonely and isolated. I am so pleased I came to the group. I felt so welcomed”; a team member “The group is a place every child is celebrated and it’s great for siblings who can get extra attention too”.

Do you have a child with additional needs? Why not join us on Friday mornings 10-11.30am at St James’s Church, Muswell Hill. Contact Celia Webster on 07931223170 or email [email protected]
