Grange Park Preparatory School

Grange Park Preparatory School

Grange Park Preparatory School is a long established, happy and successful school that provides a broad and stimulating education. It is situated in the pleasant residential area of Grange Park.

We remain committed to educating girls in a small school with small class sizes, thus allowing every child to be known as an individual. The girls enjoy a broad curriculum taught by experienced staff who encourage excellence in all areas of school life.

In September 2015 GPPS opened a Nursery class for boys and girls aged 3 and 4. Nursery staff and children have access to the excellent resources available at GPPS, including outside space, the gym and a cooked lunch for those children staying the whole day. The children follow the Early Years Curriculum with additional specialist teaching in French, Dance, Drama and Music.

In KS1 the children are taught mostly by form teachers with specialist teaching being introduced gradually in KS2. From Reception specialist teachers teach games, French, music, dance and drama. Individual music tuition is available from Year 1.

In Key Stage 2 preparation for 11+ state selective and independent secondary schools starts from as early as Year 3, where girls undertake verbal and non-verbal reasoning as part of the curriculum. In addition in Year 5, girls wishing to sit for selective schools, attend extra prep classes, thus equipping them with the tools to achieve their maximum potential in terms of academic attainment. This year we are proud to announce that our Year 6 girls did extremely well in the secondary school entrance exams, with some girls being awarded scholarships, and have been accepted at City of London for Girls, Dame Alice Owen’s, Haileybury College, St Edmund’s College, and St Martha’s Senior School.

Girls enjoy a very busy school life, and benefit from an excellent variety of extra curricular activities, including LAMDA, horse riding and chess, further enriching their experience and creating lifetime memories.

The school has a healthy eating policy. Lunches are cooked in school using only fresh ingredients; no processed food is used. There is always a vegetarian option and salads and fresh fruit are available daily.

Places for Reception are offered after the Headteacher has met with parents and their daughter. Children taking up chance vacancies in other classes will be invited to spend a day in school to ensure they will fit into the class successfully.
