Inexperience is no barrier to start a career in care!

People should not be deterred from starting a career in the care profession if they do not have experience in the sector, says the founder of a Winchmore Hill-based care firm.

“Some of the staff at Home Care Preferred, a care agency based in Station Road, have come from a variety of other sectors, and have become excellent carers. Practical skills such as manual handling, food safety and first aid are easily taught, however innate kindness, empathy and a passion for making a difference are natural qualities that are essential when we are recruiting,” comments Managing Director Ken Waterhouse.

“Some of our best team members have come to Home Care Preferred with no experience, but as a result of first class training and on-going support they have proved to be highly valued members of the Home Care Preferred workforce,” Ken explained.

“Having a real variety of team members with a wide range of ages as well as different cultural backgrounds is essential to us in the care sector as we cater for people from different backgrounds and with specific preferences.”
