Odd One Out
The famous Odd One Out competition is back! Our annual competition for children aged 12 and under will take place during the 2019 Summer Holidays (Saturday 27th July – Saturday 31st August). It is free to take part, with prizes to be won – Everyman Cinema has kindly donated cinema tickets to award to 40 lucky winners.
The idea of this competition is to find one strange object – something they don’t normally sell – in the windows of participating shops. For example, a tin of beans in a toy shop or a spanner in a bookshop. Shops will display our “Odd One Out” sign in their window, so you know they are taking part. Forms will be available to download from the MHFGA website at www.mhfga.org, or you can collect one from Muswell Hill Library from July 27th.
Development sites in Muswell Hill
The site at 90 Fortis Green, formerly occupied by the Hexagon car workshop, is going to be the subject of a planning application for a major housing development. Members of the MHFGA were invited to attend a public exhibition of the plans and also to feedback comments to the developers, at a special event held at Muswell Hill Bowling Club in May. We can now also announce that the revised plans to develop 1-9 Fortis Green Road have been approved by Haringey Council.
If you have a local event to promote, there is still some space on our newly refreshed noticeboard. Please send requests to [email protected]if you are a member of the Association (or a corporate member). If you are not – please join us to find out how we can help promote your event, including on Social Media.
MHFGA is your local residents’ association (since 1948!) We produce six bi-monthly Newsletters per year, which are distributed to over 770 members. Membership for households is just £10 per year and gives you the chance to attend our special events, such as our recent guided tour of Lauderdale House. Each summer we hold the popular ‘Odd One Out’ competition, and our Christmas Charity Tombola has raised almost £800 for local causes.
