Muswell Hill is an area rich in creative talent and to reflect this we have set up an arts department at St James, run by our creative team. The aim is to produce an on-going programme of regular events which are open to our local community and others from further afield. At the end of last year as part of this we hosted art and photographic exhibitions, and we now have regular free lunchtime concerts every month (next coming up on Saturday 2 March at 12 noon).
Although it may feel as if Christmas is only just over, and it’s snowing outside, we’re already eagerly anticipating Easter, the focus of our faith as Christians, when we remember Jesus’s death and celebrate his resurrection together. This year a highlight in the lead up to Easter at St James will be an exciting theatre production of Pilgrim’s Progress, John Bunyan’s classic tale of struggle and redemption which is going to take place in the church from 19 – 24 March.
“This is an amazing project for St James to be involved in and we are so privileged to be working alongside a great team of industry professionals to produce this powerful production, a stunning remake of Pilgrim’s Progress. We are looking forward to seeing our beautiful church transformed into an awesome theatre, filled with excitement, art, and drama. This is the story of a journey and we’d love you to join us on it. It’s a show which will take you into the heart of this beloved tale – a show not to be missed!”
Pilgrim’s Progress is produced by Peterson alongside Shaka Bunsie (The Old Vic), playwright Clare Foster (Disney, Film4 and Fox Searchlight), and Director Oliver Rose, (Chariots of Fire, Gielgud Theatre). There will be performances on each day starting from Tuesday 19 – Sunday 24 March.
We’d love to hear from anyone in our community who would like more information or to be involved in the production so please email firstname.lastname@example.org if that’s you!
Tickets will also soon be available online via our website: www.st-james.org.uk and also from the box office in St James church bookshop. More details will be available for the March issue.
We look forward to seeing you at Pilgrim’s Progress and in the meantime, we invite you to any of our on-going weekly activities and Sunday services at St James. We try to provide something for everyone and all ages so have a look at our website or drop in to our bookshop and find out more – we’d love to see you.
With every blessing,
