Kim Valdez is installing a show at The Crouch End Gallery that she expects to be ‘rather spectacular’.
‘On the Edge of Beauty’ will open on May1st and 2nd, exclusively to visitors signed up to Front Room Art. The exhibition will then be open to the public on the following weekend May 7/8th as part of the Crouch End Open Studios. Details www.frontroomart.co.uk and www.crouchendopenstudios.org.uk
Continuing the theme of the rainforest previously explored in her memorable room installation ‘Ecos de Las Amazonas’, Kim will transform The Crouch End Gallery into a suitable habitat for her latest ‘Live Edge’ acrylic sculptures featuring exotically coloured macaws and other work inspired by the plants and flowers of the rainforest.
Kim says ‘ The sculptures are made of a special acrylic sheet and exploit the power of this medium to catch normal daylight, making the colours glow along the edges. They look even more fabulous under ultraviolet spotlights.’
