Taika Waititi has fast become one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood, after writing and directing the likes of What We Do in the Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok and Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Jojo Rabbit is a satirical story about the Hitler youth, and one small boy’s journey… including his friendship with his imaginary confidante Hitler (Taika Waititi). Humour tinged with poignant pieces of drama gives Jojo Rabbit a very interesting premise – one that’s given ample support from the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant and Alfie Allen. But it’s the central performances from the brilliant young pairing of Thomasin McKenzie and Roman Griffin Davis that really draws you in.
