Adam Driver makes a strong case for an Oscar nomination in this hard-hitting real-life drama. He plays Daniel Jones, a driven Senate staff member, who is tasked by his boss Senator Dianne Feinstein (Anette Bening) to lead an investigation into the CIA’s detention and interrogation program following the events of 9/11. He uncovers shocking secrets as his damning report gathers more momentum, with powerful individuals hell bent on curtailing his efforts. Writer/director Scott Z. Burns, whose credits includes writing Side Effects and co-scripting the new Bond film No Time to Die, gives the film an immediacy that grips you like a vice. A definite awards-season contender.
