Home Entertainment Review: IT: CHAPTER 2 – 3 stars

Softly lit scary clown face from Movie IT: Chapter 2

Credit: Warner Bros – out Jan 13th

IT Chapter 2 is an entertaining ride despite the choices the book makes, something which even the superior Tim Curry TV movie suffered from. That said, the scares should have worked a lot harder to leave a mark, and the needlessly epic runtime (almost 3 hours) could have done with trimming. The plot follows on 27 years after the events of the first movie. The Losers Club have now all grown up and moved away from the small town of Derry which was terrorised by the demonic clown Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård). That is, all but one of them. Mike Hanlon (Isaiah Mustafa) stayed and has dedicated his life to studying the history of the town and Pennywise in order to defeat ‘It’ should he surface again. And sure enough he does, so cue an awkward Losers Club reunion and lots of mid-level horror.
