Celebrating Christmas at the heart of our Community

Winter shelter appeal

Winter shelter appealChristmas can be such an exciting time, and we have lots going on here at St James. In the busyness of Christmas we hope that you might find the time to join us at one of the many special services that will be taking over the next two weeks:

A carol service for all ages with orchestra and choir

Carol Service 4.30pm and 7.00pm on Sunday 15 December and 8.00pm on Monday 16 December
A mixture of traditional and contemporary songs for Christmas with full orchestra and choir

Christmas Eve Tuesday 24 December
Crib Service 4.00pm
The Christmas story for all the family told with children’s drama and songs

Midnight Communion 11.00pm
A friendly and traditional service, with organ and choir, to celebrate the start of Christmas

Christmas Day Wednesday 25 December
Christmas Family Service 10.30am
A celebration of Christmas for all ages including communion

We’re hosting the Haringey Churches Winter Shelter here again in December and January.  Each church involved hosts the shelter on its premises, providing a three-course dinner, a warm bed and breakfast for up to twelve people who have recently become homeless.  If you would like to donate, volunteer or for more information please contact Rachel Elliott at [email protected].

Community Café is open every Tuesday here in church (with the exception of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve) from 11.00am-1.00pm serving tea, coffee, cake and soup, and with mulled apple juice and carols in December!  It’s a nice way to take some time out during the busyness of Christmas.  Please do get in touch if you’d like more information [email protected] or find us on facebook and twitter.

Looking forward to the new year we will be running the 6 Course again from 28 January for six weeks. The course is designed for those who are interested in exploring Christianity but makes no assumptions on what you may know, or believe.

Each evening starts with a relaxed and informal meal followed by a short talk and then a chance to discuss. This really is a course where no question is too simple or too challenging; we are here to explore the invitation of Christianity together and would love you to join us.  To find out more contact [email protected].

At St James we love the fact that so many people in the parish make time to come and visit us at Christmas. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to any or all of it – we would love to see you!
