Interview with musician James McFadden

Shadow picture of musician James McFadden playing guitar

What are you listening to right now?
I’ve been listening to a lot of Richard Hawley after seeing him at the Roundhouse recently.

How did you get into music?
I have my mum to thank for getting me piano lessons as a boy and making me stick at it when it wasn’t cool!

What have you been reading lately?
I’ve been reading a pre-publication edit of The Fifth Season, due to be released in 2020 by Deaf Fret. It’s brilliantly funny and well worth the read.

Who is the most influential person in your life?
My Dad subjected me to long car journeys of country and rock ‘n’ roll when I was younger which I have grown to love.

Which song do you wish you had written?

Oh that’s hard. There are so many. Um…Sweet Sixteen by The Fureys.

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

A pint thereof and a whiskey chaser.

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Paloma Faith unless she’s strictly only singing.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I’ve always been envious of people who can answer this question or have lived out their answer. I’ve never really known. I suppose a songwriter is the closest answer I have!

If you were a London tube station, which one would you be?
Covent Garden. I’m a sucker for the stairs and the reward of getting to the top.

How can we find out more about you?

My website www.jamesmcfaddenofficial.com has all my latest releases, videos and information about up and coming gigs.
