Music: Q&A with Dol Vita

What are you listening to right now?

Magdeline by Bear’s Den. It reminds me of the guy I kinda like and it gives me butterflies a little bit. He played them to me and I haven’t been able to stop listening since, their music is beautiful and perfect listening for winter.

It’s Karaoke night. What song do you sing?

Heart Shaped Box By Nirvana. It’s a classic favourite of mine and I love rocking out a little bit.

What have you been reading lately?

I’ve actually been doing a lot of reading online lately, researching and self-learning. Mostly, I’ve been reading about space and the universe, including astrology, astronomy which I’ve always had a keen interest in. Last night I was reading about Jupiter and its many different moons and Europa in particular caught my attention. It ended up inspiring me and I wrote a song before bed.

Who is the most influential person in your life?

Lana Del Rey has probably been the most influential woman in music that I have come across. When I first heard her music and watched her videos, I was completely captivated because it spoke to me on a level that no other artist had before. She helped me to not be afraid of my femininity and to understand and be in control of my sexuality. She’s very powerful and definitely the reason I feel confidant to let myself shine in whatever way I want.

Which song do you wish you had written?

Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish. It’s such an innocent and beautifully written song. I can’t wait to hear what else she makes, she’s only 15 and her voice and writing style is phenomenal.

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Probably a Kir Royale or a Raspberry Collins. Something sweet, fizzy and cool. A bit like me!

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

I don’t really think anyone because even if it was someone I strongly disliked, I would LOVE having the opportunity to give them a piece of my mind. But I’ll tell you who I would love to get stuck in a lift with… Jemma Lucy as I have the biggest crush on her. She’s so sassy.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Funnily enough I have always wanted to be a singer or a performer of some sorts. Other than that, I had dreams of being a Playboy model. I thought the women looked so beautiful, feminine and empowered and I never saw it as sexual until I got older. I’ve always wanted to make some sort of art and beauty with my body and voice.

If you were a London tube station, which one would you be?

Definitely Warwick Avenue, my friend used to live right opposite so I spent a lot of time here when I was a teenager. I have so many fond memories being there, getting drunk in Little Venice and stumbling back home to listen to music on YouTube together.

Are you heading to London?

Always, I have many friends in London so you can often find me near Kings Road, Oxford Street and Camden. I mainly buy my clothes from vintage/retro and charity shops and theres plenty in the city.
