Q&A with Ben Hemming

Music Interview

What are you listening to right now?

I listen to a lot of old Blues guys, Howlin’ Wolf, Mississippi Fred MacDowell, Son House… that kind of stuff.

It’s Karaoke night. What song do you sing?

‘Where did you sleep last night’ by Lead Belly, it’s a classic…

What have you been reading lately?

George Orwell’s 1984, the guy was a visionary.

Who is the most influential person in your life?

It’s the lessons I’ve learnt on the road that have influenced me the most more than any one person. I have a story or two to tell that’s for sure!

Which song do you wish you had written?

‘Gimme Shelter’ by the Rolling Stones

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Beer… IPA’s although the hangover is always a killa for some reason!

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Any of my ex-girl friends

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Just like my Dad, a Carpenter… then a musician obviously.

If you were a London tube station, which one would you be?

Definitely Camden Town because of the musical history of the place, and it’s a party town.

When can we see you in London?

I’m playing at The Half Moon in Putney on the 16th Sep. Music starts at 8pm
