Q&A with Ben Jordan

Interview with Ben Jordan

What are you listening to right now?

Jason Isbell, Neko Case, Ted Hawkins, Sam Green & the Midnight heist, old school Smithsonian folk and country anthologies, as much 60’s-70’s soul music as possible.

How did you get into music?

I think the crystallizing moment was being given a radio by a neighbor and listening to music non-stop from there on out. I’d fall asleep with it under my pillow. Music made me invisible and invincible. Still does.:-D

Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?

Mainly friends, Jason Isbell, Neko case, Mark Morton (from Lamb of God) Ryan Adams. I’m not super into Twitter, I have times when I’m on a lot, but I spend so much time online booking gigs, I can’t really be bothered.

What have you been reading lately?

Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Joe Hill, WH Auden, Murakami, various comics and graphic novels, mainly Spider-man and Batman.

Who is the most influential person in your life?

Travis Charbeneau he played in the first version of my band (the Heathens) he really helped me focus and encouraged me to keep going. Chop wood, carry water.

Which song do you wish you had written?

Oh man, SO many, Jolene (Ray Lamontagne), The Night they drove old Dixie down (the Band) My Sweet Carolina (Ryan adams) A change is gonna come, I wish I was the moon (neko case) EVERYTHING by Tom Waits!!

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Jack Daniels on the rocks

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Rush Limbaugh

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I think I’ve avoided that trap pretty well so far 😉

If you could change on thing about London, what would it be?

24 hour tube service

What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?

My new record is called Dream Invisible, which is out digitally and will be out physically in late April. The Single is called “sweetest Thing” though, it’s part of the whole and it’s weird to speak about it like it isn’t. I’m always on the road, there’s always a gig somewhere.

How can we find out more about you?

www.benjordanmusic.com is the best place to get updates and see my shows schedule. I do my best to keep the live dates up to date, but, sometimes I fall behind.
