Well, I’ve been trawling through some older records recently, Abbey Road comes up a lot, what an amazing album that is. We’ve been listening a lot to Patrick Watson and Efterklang too.
How did you get into music?
I started playing the drums when I was 13. I joined the school orchestra and a few bands with friends but I really wanted to be writing my own music, I’m a bit of a control freak you see… so my parents had guitars lying about the house and I picked them up, soon after me and Olli started writing together and 5 years later we haven’t put those guitars down.
Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?
Obviously big Stevie Fry and Ricky Gervais. Also big fans of Songs from the shed.
What have you been reading lately?
I have just started reading “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, if you count reading the first two pages. Andrew’s reading “From Hell” by Alan Moore and James has been getting lost in Tom Holland history books and Kurt Vonnegut.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
I wish I had written “God only knows”. Brian Wilson is a genius, that song is just perfect. Some really interesting approaches to instrumentation and just has a really beautiful sentiment.
Does God exist?
Ha, that’s an age old question I can’t answer. It really has to depend on your definition of God doesn’t it. I’d like to think there is something greater out there, but that comes from inside people not from a man with a beard.
We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?
Guinness please, no logo. And for when I’m feeling fruity amaretto and brandy. Oooooohhhh
Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I actually thought that being Batman was a viable career option until I was about 13, after that dream was shattered I knew I wanted to be involved in music or film somewhere.
What song will you have played at your funeral?
Celine Dion- definitely
What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?
“Solitary Thinker” is our next release, so we are gearing up for that on February 25th, it’s the single from our debut e.p, which we are all pretty excited about getting out there in April.
