Q&A with Grace Solero

Grace Solero

What are you listening to right now?

Placebo ‘Once More With Feeling’

How did you get into music?

I started singing at a very early age with my brother as he was playing keyboard… that was the most fun game for me and I just wanted to sing more and more!

Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?

I’m not a big fan of Twitter, but the Dalai Lama page always shares some interesting thoughts and promotes human values, which I find fulfilling.

What have you been reading lately?

I’m reading The Johnny Cash authorised biography, by Steve Turner. It’s a wonderful insight into Cash’s life, written with real love.  As I’m a bit of a compulsive reader at the same time I’m going through a book called ‘The Religion of Self-enlightenment’

Who is the most influential person in your life?

I never thought about it. I suppose there might a few. Both my mom and dad taught me to be true to myself and the values of respect and uniqueness.

Which song do you wish you had written?

Too many to name! One favourite is Moon River by Henry Mancini

Does God exist?

We all have God in us, whether we’re aware of it or not, our souls are filled with divine qualities.

Grace SoleroWe’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Cranberry juice, no ice, with a slice of lime.

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Any serial killers and Simon Cowell because he totally lacks empathy

What did you want to be when you grew up?

My dream was to be a ballerina, then a ship captain, then in my teens an actress and a singer.

What is your New Year’s resolution?

Stop biting my nails; complete more unfinished songs; arrange more workshops on singing and performing.

What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?

I’m promoting the new album recorded with my band ‘Hundred Years Apart’. It was released a couple of months ago. You can listen to the tracks online and come to our gigs! Also the official video for our single ‘Electro’ is now up on Youtube.
