Q&A With Ian Prowse

What are you listening to right now?

Sound System by The Clash. Especially the extras CD. Capital Radio, Gates of The West, Groovy Times, life affirming stuff!

How did you get into music?

I went with all the older kids in the street to see The Jam at Liverpool Empire, the band walked out and launched into ‘All Mod Cons’, nothing was ever going to be the same again.

Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?

No one really, I’m on Twitter but I don’t get it. In fact I loathe it. I’m a Facebook kid.

What have you been reading lately?

‘Tune In’ by Mark Lewisohn. It’s a 900 page book about the Beatles and doesn’t even get past 1962, the detail is stunning.

Who is the most influential person in your life?

Bruce Springsteen. His words have acted as a spirit guide to me for over 25 years now.

Ian ProwseWhich song do you wish you had written?

Bridge over Troubled Water. How the hell did he get all those perfect chords together!

We’re at the bar, what are you drinking?

I’m a simple lad so it’ll be a pint of crap lager.

Who would you dread getting into a lift with?

Michael Gove MP. I’ve been fighting people with his mindset my entire life.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A singer who had the crazy idea he could change the world.

What are you looking forward to in 2014?

Playing a show on St. Patrick’s Day in New York City to launch my new album. Imagine that.

Which gigs songs or albums are you promoting?

Who Loves Ya Baby, my first ever solo album and the tour that goes with it.
