Q&A with Sharman

What are you listening to right now?

Love the old jazz style, Etta James is a favourite but with more modern artist I’m obsessed with Paloma faith and how she uses the old style and makes it new and theatrical

How did you get into music?

I’ve been dancing since 3 and singing since 10 so I’ve always been surrounded by music and I love the escape it can give

Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?

Most artist I would love to follow or Twitter are unfortunately not with us now, people like Elvis I would love to know the ins and outs of his life like you can with celebrities today

What have you been reading lately?

I’m obsessed with old history stories, I’ve recently read a book about Cleopatra and her love affair with Anthony, I love the history of it all and all the stories of that time like Spartacus but I love fantasy as well like game of thrones and Harry Potter

Who is the most influential person in your life?

My mum, she basically raised me and my sister on her own but also got to where she is with her career all on her own I just think she such a strong woman and the amount she’s put into helping me with my singing and dancing driving me everywhere and putting up with my tantrums when something’s not perfect I just can’t wait to hopefully make her proud and prove it wasn’t all for nothing

Which song do you wish you had written?

Something’s got a hold Etta James, I think it’s just such an uplifting song and gets an audience attention straight away, and it’s my favourite song to sing and if love to say if written it

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Vodka lime and lemonade, it’s my drink.

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Someone like Paris Hilton, I can’t deal with the overly nice American thing

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a professional dancer and travel the world on a tour

If you could change on thing about London, what would it be?

Living expenses! It’s the place to be for someone like me and has the best training but for a working class Yorkshire girl it’s a struggle to keep up with the prices there!

What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?

My EP when the lion roars, I feel like this is mine and my co-writer Dylan’s best work to date, everything just fits with this EP and I can’t wait for people to hear the songs

How can we find out more about you?

We are releasing the first single “The Fear” (EP “When the Lion Roars”) on 22Nd September on iTunes Amazon and all other platforms
