At the moment I’m listening to a lot of Scala & Kolacny Brothers, a Belgian girl’s choir who sing beautiful covers of indie anthems by the likes of Nirvana & Radiohead. I saw them live in Dublin this year and they were mesmerising.
I was convinced when I was 10 that I was going to be a champion netball player when I grew up, but unfortunately I had a kiss-chase accident (as you do!), fell over, and ended up having knee surgery! When I realised it was time to hang up my netball bib, I got into music by mistake at school when they asked us to sing along with a piano, and realised that actually I was quite good at it!
Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?
I must admit, I do find Twitter a little overwhelming with its constant updates at times. Therefore I tend to limit my following to a select few! Amongst which, I always enjoy the brilliant Regina Spektor’s tweets, she’s very good at putting a positive spin on life!
Most of the books I’ve read lately have been by Cath Kidston & Kirstie Allsop! I’m a bit of a magpie when it comes to vintage clothes and furniture, and when I have time I enjoy upcycling and customising old objects, so I look to those two ladies for tips!
Who is the most influential person in your life?
I’m lucky enough to have a brilliant close circle of friends (4 of which are in the band!), who along with my boyfriend and family are the most important people in my life. I value their opinions, advice and friendship above anything else as influences on me and my decisions.
So many! If I have to narrow it down to one, I think it would be Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead. It’s a song that I think is completely timeless, and can mean everything and nothing depending on your mood at the time! Brilliantly clever and beautiful.
Does God exist?
If I knew that I’d surely be rich! Or at least have my own show on God TV?!
We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?
Whiskey. Irish. On the rocks.
I’m terrible in lifts as I’m very claustrophobic!! So I’d feel more sorry for the poor person having to cope with a sweaty, shaking mess!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Aside from my dreams of being a champion netball player, I always fancied being a journalist. But when I realised that it wasn’t like a black and white film where I’d be typing into a vintage typewriter in a smoke filled room and finding the latest scoop, I decided to be a musician instead! Much more realistic!
What song will you have played at your funeral?
Do you know something I don’t?! Gulp! Would the Stone Roses “I Am The Resurrection” be in poor taste?!!
What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?
Our latest single “Days Don’t Get Me Far Enough Away” is out now! Our video for the single features a hilariously silly plot with us lot and BBC Radio 2 & 6 Music presenters Jeremy Vine, Janice Long, Alex Lester & Chris Hawkins!
