Q&A with Tracey Browne

Tracey Browne

Tracey BrowneWhat are you listening to right now?

Holy Diver by Dio

How did you get into music?

I played piano from a very early age, and always sang. I picked up a guitar at 15 to look cooler and stop getting bullied 😉

Who do you follow religiously on Twitter?

Very British Problems, Irish Mammies and DJs Complaining.

What have you been reading lately?

Currently ‘Wolf of the Plains’, the eipc story of Ghengis Khan! I like fantasy and sci-fi, grimdark and horror (but only to read, not to watch).

Who is the most influential person in your life?

Me! (that’s a Capricorn trait) but I learn a lot from my friends and people I work with. I used to be a lot more influenced by other people, but that can take you down the wrong road, especially if those people don’t have your best interests at heart.

Which song do you wish you had written?

The Show Must Go On by Queen.

Does God exist?

Not just the one. There are plenty of imaginary friends floating around.

We’re at the bar. What are you drinking?

Guinness if it’s the morning after the night before. Lager, cider, wine, whiskey, black sambuca (anything but Tequila, yuk!)

Who would you dread getting stuck in a lift with?

Someone who hadn’t seen a shower in a few months.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

A Disney soundtrack singer. Or in the Army.

What are you looking forward to in 2014?

Making lots of new music with lots of different people. The year is a blank page at the moment, ready to be filled. I’m looking forward to playing at my usual motorbike rallies too, for the NABD (www.nabd.org.uk)

What gigs, songs or albums are you promoting at the moment?

I have the first release from a new collaboration with Raevennan Husbandes coming out on Feb 6th, called ‘Coming Home’. I’m looking forward to people hearing that! We’ll be playing a rare gig together at Farnham Maltings on April 4th; I live in Manchester and Raevennan lives in Lowestoft, so it’s not often we can gig together. We’ll be following the single with an album later in the year.
