Hi all and thank you for taking the time to read the latest edition of ‘The Music Connection’.
For this edition, I interviewed Lara Smiles, who is a singer who fuses Pop, Electro, Indie, Alternative & Rock Music.
Q. So Lara, how did you first get into the music industry?
I started singing lessons at the age of 12-14, which wasn’t considered to be cool at the time. I then went to college, where I studied vocals and music for a couple of years. I then went on to complete an HND in vocals and music and it was there that I auditioned to be in an all-female pop/rock band. I got the part and that was my first profession band, so I guess that’s where it started in the music industry for me.
Q. What do you think are your biggest achievements within the music industry so far?
My biggest achievement so far, would be to stay in it…. Haha. Jokes aside, it would be touring the world with The Australian Pink Floyd for the last 7 years and to have just finished my debut album, yay!
Q. What projects are you up to now?
I tour with The Australian Pink Floyd, I’ve just recorded and feature on the new Thunder album and I’m releasing my debut album on the 7th September 2018. My album launch gig is at the Seabright Arms in London on 30th August 2018.
Q. Where can people check out your current projects? Any forthcoming gigs?
Yes! Please check out my website for all info at www.larasmiles.com and follow me on my social media channels from there. My album launch gig will be at Seabright Arms on 30th August 2018, so I hope to see you all there.
Q. What do you think the future holds in store for Lara Smiles?
I really want to go on tour soon, I would love to support any cool bands out there! I’m already working on album number 2, so I’m looking forward to recording that.
Q. What one piece of advice would you give to someone trying to make it within the music industry?
Don’t give up!
Q. Who are your favourite music artists?
It changes a lot, but at the moment, I’m listening to a lot of Wolf Alice, Muse, Everything Everything, Jack White and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Q. What do you like getting up to on your days off from music?
I don’t get much time off, but when I do, I like to watch a good documentary (got to be a true story). I also love going to watch other bands and going to festivals.
Q. What are your links with Crouch End & Muswell Hill?
I am always in Crouch End and a lot of my friends also live in and around Crouch End & Muswell Hill. You can often find us all in the Kings Head, which of course, is a great pub!
Q. Final words to the people of North London?
Come and see me and my band rock out on 30th August at Seabright Arms in London.
Thanks again for reading this month’s edition, catch you all soon.
